Ethan Hill is the documentary film director of TATTOO MIKE: The Story of the Illustrated Man. A spotlight on Queer Icon, a rebel with a cause to intrigue, defy and be admired, artist Michael Wilson. Michael lived life on his own terms and in search of NYC’s fabled outlaw tattoo society with the intent on covering his face with tattoos. A perceived societal outcast and antagonist in the 1980’s ultra conservative Reagan backlash, Tattoo Mike’s celebrity bloomed as he modeled for Jean Paul Gaultier and was photographed by Andy Warhol. Many people will remember Michael’s appearances on daytime television talk shows by Geraldo Rivera and Joan Rivers. Michael’s influences further extended into 80’s pop culture with appearances in MTV Music Videos for LET THE BEAT HIT ‘EM by Lisa Lisa the Cult Jam and TUNNEL OF LOVE by Bruce Springsteen.
